Beauty in focus

It always takes time to come out of your shell with something new. For me, photography has always been a point of interest and intrigue. Photos inspire me to want to travel and love and live so it would give me the greatest please to be able to give that to other people too. Trying to keep things in focus and yet living well beyond the confines of a lens.

Now I’m only just beginning to learn but I can tell you that there isn’t anything quite like the feeling of looking at a photo and seeing it capture exactly what you wanted in the most beautiful way. The hardest part is learning to be confident enough to try new things, trust the artistic instinct and to embrace the great work you’ve done even if others are better at it than you.

Musical Inspiration: Let Me Down Gently

And so she returns. I have spent the last 5 years listening to La Roux’s previous album on repeat. Loving it. Cherishing it. And praying that she soon return with new music to grace us with. July 7th the new album arrives and I can’t wait. There’s no one quite like La Roux. Her voice really fills you with a special feeling and she conveys so well the emotional tone of her songs. Such a joy to listen to especially this new melodic number.

Let me down gently,
That’s what I think I need!
But when you let me down gently,
It still feels it hard, hard!
Turn me into someone good,
That’s what I really need!
Tel me that I’m someone good
So we’re not so far apart, apart
I hope it doesn’t seem like I’m young, foolish and green
Let me in for a minute,
You’re not my life but I want you in it!
Aha, aha, aha, ahaSet me up I’m slowly, that’s what you do to me
Oh you set me up slowly
Now I can’t come down, down!
Let me down gently,
That’s what I think you need.
But when I let you down gently
And you try to hide your frowns, frowns!
I hope it doesn’t seem like I’m young, foolish and green
Let me in for a minute
You’re not my life but I want you in it.
And I hope it’s sinking
Left behind your perfect skin
There’s a part of you that’s free
And I know that there’s a place for me!Let me down gently,
That’s what I think I need!
But when you let me down gently,
It still feels it hard, hard!
Turn me into someone good,
That’s what I really need!
Tel me that I’m someone good
So we’re not so far apart, apart
(Let me down, let me down, let me down)

And I hope it doesn’t seem
Like I’m young and foolish and green
Let me in for a minute
You’re not my life, but I want you in it!
And I hope it’s sinking in
Left behind your perfect skin
There’s a part of you that’s free
And I know there’s a place for me.

A Reintroduction

I’m reintroducing myself into the world of blogging and doing things that make me happy because I want to do them. I started this blog two years ago with the goal of using it to express the things that inspire me. Hopes, dreams, fashion, music, literature and beyond. Finding inspiration in the little things and expressing exactly what that means with the goal of filling my life with positivity.  My desire was to inspire others to be inspired by their own lives.

With that in mind the best place to start would be my 2014 resolutions. Now I typically don’t make resolutions for my year ahead but after a difficult separation from an amazing guy I knew I needed to spend more time focusing on my personal goals in life. Not taking myself or my feelings or dreams for granted. Aiming big and living life.

2014 Resolutions

  1. Don’t buy things you don’t need, save and travel instead
  2. Do things you want to do without fear of what others may think or say
  3. Don’t let other’s successes define whether you decide to pursue your ambitions
  4. Invest in my health
  5. Take the time to look the part, everyday. You know it makes you feel better
  6. Spend more time doing things I want to rather than wasting it watching TV
  7. Travel with no regrets
  8. Read more
  9. Take the time to make lasting relationships with the important people
  10. Give more to others without thinking about it

2014 is now a quarter of the way over and I’m reaching my 22nd birthday and I know that this year I need to continue to abide by these resolutions and embrace my life. So with that in mind thus begins my reintroduction into the blogosphere. Here’s to living for me ~ a prologue to life worth living.
